Since joining Haleys in July 2020 Dr Chris Lowe has hit the ground running! On Tuesday 8th December Chris will be presenting a webinar to the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) on R&D tax credit relief.
Prior to this Chris had an article on R&D tax relief published in the Nov/Dec 2020 issue of the CIWM (Chartered Institution of Wastes Management) Circular magazine. A further article was published in a newsletter for members of the Centre for SME Development at UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire) and an article is also being developed for publication in the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) members newsletter.
Chris joined our R&D team after gaining more than 20 years of research experience in the academic sector, addressing issues in waste, energy and resource management, environmental pollution and land restoration and still retains an editorial role for the International Journal – Environmental Science and Pollution Research.
Chris has been quick to start applying his technical and scientific knowledge to provide advice and assist clients in identifying qualifying activities for R&D tax relief and writing technical reports (a key component of successful R&D tax claims) that accompany claims made to HMRC. He has also become a member of the HMRC Research and Development Consultative Committee, which helps shapes policy on R&D Tax relief.
According to MD Tim Haley “Chris has made an invaluable contribution to the R&D team. The firm has strong connections with UCLAN, and I first met Chris through one of our other team members Gus Glover, who is also a former ULCAN lecturer. Chris’ meticulous scientific approach to understanding the technical intricacies of qualifying R&D expenditure is really helping clients and Chris is also opening a number of doors through his contacts in waste management, construction and architecture”.
