haleys are passionate about supporting their clients and were delighted to learn that David Thomas Hairdressing have been nominated for the Best of Penwortham Awards 2020.

Their nomination in the hair and beauty category comes just a year after the business relocated to Penwortham. Having been in the centre of Preston for over 30 years, David Thomas has been in the hairdressing industry since 1976, getting to travel the world as part of his work.

Heavily involved in the launch of ghd and their worldwide education programme, David has always returned to the northwest to use the knowledge that he has gained at the very top of his industry.

After having been based in one location for such an extended period of time, David says that being nominated for a local award makes the decision to move location all the more worth it.

“I have done hair shows, seminars and photoshoots all over the world for products manufacturers ” David explains. “I have been twice nominated for the British Hairdressing Awards, which is great as far as professional recognition is concerned. However, that on a local level doesn’t necessarily mean anything.

“Our relocation was a big decision after 33 years in the town centre. The community in Penwortham is amazing and they have received us so well. As well as our loyal clients, the business continues to grow with new clients every week. The team love our new home and environment, it has inspired them creatively, moving to Penwortham is best business decision I have ever made for us all.”

“Local awards, to us as a team, are so important now, as they are recognition from the people that support us as a business, who walk past our salon, people that live around the corner, people that drive past every day and it is affirmation and confirmation that we did make the right decision to relocate. The  community and our clients have been brilliant.”

During each lockdown that the country has experienced, David Thomas Hairdressing has had to shut its doors in order to adhere to restrictions. As a result of this, David has had to consult haleys on a more regular basis, in order to safeguard his business for its eventual reopening.

“haleys have helped us so much this year, they [provide] excellent accountants advice, led by Michael Lucas who is an approachable, professional and knowledgable guy,” David said.

“My account managers Alex Manfrin and Alex Walmsley are young, with a great attitude and get things done!  The help they have all given during this global pandemic has been invaluable. They truly are part of our business”

As well as financial advice, they have helped with HR challenges, their support to the business has been excellent. Their support, motivational skills and attitude has had such a positive effect on me personally, so important in challenging times”

Despite being placed in the governments highest tier of coronavirus restrictions, hairdressers and other areas of the personal care sector will be opening their door once more on December 2nd, meaning that David has been hard at work reopening his business this week.

The voting for the Best of Penwortham Awards closes on December 14th at 5pm. You can vote for David Thomas Hairdressing by clicking here and selecting the business in the Hair and Beauty category.
